Dear THG employees,
I would like to extend my warmest thanks to The Henson Group, Inc., for providing me with a great place to work for during the past several months. Working for The Henson Group has been a very enriching and educational experience that has enhanced my understanding of marketing. Under the advisement of Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Craig McGuire, this work experience has instilled in me invaluable and useful lessons that I can carry on with me for the rest of my career.
Prior to interning with THG, my main goal was to find a suitable internship that would not only help me understand marketing better, but also provide me with a comfortable and vibrant work environment. Interning with THG has given me just that.
As a marketing intern, I held a number of responsibilities that were both challenging and demanding. Since one of my majors is Journalism, I wanted to handle tasks that were geared more towards my communication skills. One of the major tasks that THG assigned to me was editing, proofing and writing the company case studies. Once these case studies were completed, I used Microsoft Publisher to format them. These case studies allowed me to learn more about the company and its services. Through this responsibility, I was able to harness my written communication skills and become more aware of what it takes to be a more proficient writer.
Another major responsibility of mine during this internship was negotiating with third-party vendors. I had to find the telemarketing service that would best fit THG in terms of its pricing scheme and its ability to generate potential leads. By calling and negotiating with numerous services, I strengthened my oral communication skills and better understood the art of negotiation.
Creating a media list for THG’s marketing initiatives was also an ongoing priority of mine. With this project, I compiled a list of magazines, web sites and blogs that could potentially publicize THG’s award-winning status and services. After the list was completed, I helped create a marketing pitch to send to the different media platforms. In doing so, this helps THG reach a wide range of media outlets so that the company can be more recognized.
Along with the aforementioned priorities, there were also other short-term projects that have enhanced my internship. Using Sharepoint, I frequently updated the company database. During the beginning of the internship, I screened and researched a number of resumes for various positions within THG. In addition, I tracked down leads for potential customers. These are just a few of the many significant tasks that I have encountered.
Judging from all of these assignments, it is obvious that I learned a lot from this marketing internship at The Henson Group that I can translate onto my future endeavors. Thanks to this internship, I am fully confident to take on other career challenges ahead of me. Among the skills that I have enhanced through this internship include: research, administrative, marketing, and communication. The Henson Group is an ideal place for future interns to learn as much as they can so that they can prepare themselves for whatever career they choose. The company has given me high examples of workflow and efficiency that I can translate to my future endeavors.
Sincerely, Christopher Singh Spring 2006 Intern |

Dear THG employees,
I would just like to thank all the employees at The Henson Group for such an outstanding internship this past winter. I really learned a great deal of the IT industry, along with meeting some great people wanting to see me fulfill my expectations.
Going into this internship, I wanted to become more knowledgeable with Microsoft products and learn how to use them efficiently for the future. I knew The Henson Group was a Microsoft Gold Partner affiliated with Microsoft products, so I knew this would be beneficial for me in expanding my learning horizons.
Outlook, CRM (Customer Relationship Management), SharePoint, and Project were just a few Microsoft programs that I became better familiar with during this internship. With Outlook, I learned how it enables the user to manage contacts, sales opportunities, and accounts from a single location. Using this program enabled me to be in contact with company news containing newsletters and other up-to-date IT related news.
During my internship, I was placed on a CRM research project that enabled me to access leads through the Hoover’s database, where I then entered the data into CRM. CRM now enables THG to identify opportunities by providing a tool for strengthening the relationship between the consultancy and clients and prospects.
I also learned much about Microsoft’s SharePoint product. SharePoint provides THG with a team-oriented web portal where information is located for employees to share, among many other features. While at THG, I was assigned to a project that involved me accessing a variety of files via the team’s website. I found this to be a very resourceful tool and this hands-on experience using it was very valuable for me.
At the same time, until arriving at THG, I was unfamiliar with the Microsoft Project product. Executive Assistant Christi Shingara provided an excellent product demonstration that was later part of a THG workshop. By demonstrating how Microsoft Project is actually used within a company, I gained a practical understanding of the product’s capabilities, which I found to be much more useful than a standard demo.
As you can notice, I learned quite a bit from THG internship, gaining insight that I am sure will be quite valuable through my journey in the Information Technology field. I hope that my being the first intern can set the standards for incoming interns at THG and hope that future participants in the program have as good an experience as I have had. Once again, thank you for all that you have taught me and I look forward to keeping in touch.
Sincerely, Alyson Engel Winter 2004 – 2005 Intern

Dear THG employees,
I would like to extend my appreciation and thanks to all the employees at The Henson Group. I am so grateful and appreciative to have interned at such an astounding Award-Winning Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Company as The Henson Group, Inc.
I have so much respect for all THG’s employees and for the professionalism they stand for. The atmosphere at THG was very warm and friendly, which I enjoyed because I was treated as an equal.
In the duration of my internship at THG, I was placed on the Business Development side of Sales. As a Sales Associate Intern, I was under the supervision of Mr. Alan Klein, who is the Senior Vice President of Sales at THG. Alan Klein acquainted and trained me with the use of Microsoft’s CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database and how it is used to generate new clients and strengthen existing ones.
As a Sales Associate Intern, some of my many responsibilities included: making client calls, creating new contacts and leads into the CRM database, emailing Microsoft representatives, researching diverse companies on Hoover’s website and traveling to client sites and THG related events.
In using CRM, I entered data for contacts and leads and created new contacts and leads if they didn’t already exist. In using Microsoft Outlook, I was able to communicate with each PAM (Parent Account Manager) for any updates and information about any AE (Account Executive).
In using SharePoint, I was able to find information about possible leads, who could benefit from the use of Microsoft products, which were contained in Excel spreadsheets.
Being a Sales Associate Intern at THG made me understand quite a lot about the Sales side of IT Consulting.
The knowledge I gained from the internship at THG has prepared me for a career in the Information Technology industry. I thank you all again for letting me learn more about what goes on behind the scenes of an IT consulting company and for allowing me to be a part of the team.
Everyone at THG was like a second family to me and I am glad to have been a part of it and I will be keeping in touch in the future.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Davis Spring 2005 Intern | |
